Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in an LA Car Crash

Vince Zampella, renowned for co-creating the immensely successful first-person shooter Call of Duty, has tragically died in a vehicle crash in California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio he co-founded.

The renowned industry figure lost his life when his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, US media outlets report.

"This represents an unimaginable loss, and we stand with his family and friends, his loved ones, and all those touched by his creative vision," a representative from Electronic Arts said.
