That Grisly Animated Film Ending That Haunts Audiences

Among every adult-oriented animated films I’ve personally watched, nothing has lingered in my mind as much as the terror-laced finale of a graphically gory as well as deeply subversive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

In 2015’s, this Spanish writer-director developed a grim, somber , frequently brutal universe that included some tiny , desolate hints of hope.

While Unicorn Wars appears as it stemmed from a drive to push the medium further, the filmmaker stated that it was actually a try to express a widespread, multicultural theme regarding “the common origin of each battle.”

That message is communicated by means of a group of brightly hued teddy bears , openly inspired by a popular line of lovable figures.

Growing up in a community focused on warmongering as well as the defense industry, numerous these creatures are fixated on slaughtering the mythical beasts, due to a sacred text that tells the bears they previously were rulers of the woods, before these creatures expelled them.

Some did not entirely fallen for the brainwashing, , choose to experiment with substances or mate in the woods.

In contrast to their cuddly equivalents, these bright beings display sexual organs and clear libidos.

For one notably brutal, skeptical animal, Bluey, the conflict with unicorns transforms into a path to control — and particularly to dominance over his more tender, kinder brother the character Tubby.

Bluey behaves aggressively , an obvious antisocial figure , and while terror takes over his squad and claims his fellow soldiers individually, he grabs increasingly power on his own behalf, in increasingly bloody, damaging approaches.

Simultaneously, these mythical beings are enduring their own horror, in the form of an expanding, deadly beast in their woods.

“At the beginning, it seems like a comedy,” the filmmaker commented. “Yet it evolves into a more intense and sorrowful movie. And in the finale, it transforms into a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars commences feeling a bit like among the playful films from a renowned animator, that discover a wicked pleasure in permitting cartoon characters curse, fire weapons, or engage sexually.

Then it turns into closer to a bleaker film from that creator, with increasingly visual gore , a tangible connection to genuine tragedy of battle.

In the finale, it becomes an outright extreme drama bloodbath.

The horror that makes the film a Halloween-friendly movie starts much sooner than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is one for the hardcore lovers of violence, for fans of graphic films who want to watch something they haven’t ever viewed until now, and are able to withstand a narrative that offers absolutely no punches.

View it in a dark room free from interruptions, and that ending will burrow under your skin and take up residence there.
