An Australian man who jumped past a barrier and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been expelled and barred from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was sentenced to over a week in jail for being a public nuisance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control stated to Singaporean press.

Wen pushed past photographers and rushed toward the celebrity, who was present at the Asian debut for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

He has a background of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including jumping on stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.

The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with many saying he of re-traumatising Grande.

The pop star has discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her show in Manchester in spring of 2017 resulted in the deaths of over twenty people and affected hundreds.

During Wen's trial, the authorities learned he had made efforts to breach on the movie's debut on two occasions, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Event security prevented him and restrained him.

Wen later posted videos thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."

Law enforcement took him into custody the next day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which the man admitted guilt.

The District Judge the judicial official was cited by media reports as stating that Wen was "attention seeking", commenting that he was wrong to think he would not face any penalties.

The actress has not spoken about the situation.

The co-star mentioned the situation to NBC, remarking that she "simply desired to make sure my friend was safe."

"I believe he didn't intend us injury, but you cannot be certain with such situations, and I wanted to make sure that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she said.
