Jurgen Klopp admits coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday is an option. Klopp, after a transformative nine-year spell featuring Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
Liverpool won the league title last season, but many fans who adore the manager would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I said I refuse to lead a different club in England. Therefore should it be the Reds...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“At 58 years old, so the choice could be mine down the line, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”
Conditions for a Comeback
When asked about what circumstances must arise to bring him back to management, he revealed he isn't eager for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “No longing for management; No desire to be during downpours for lengthy sessions; No need for interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.
“The locker room isn't missed in that context, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, that’s nice. With many victories so there was often positive atmosphere around the place. I still have Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears as an instance.”
Commending Arne Slot
He commended regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role due to the changes which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong well-judged squad. No need for concern over the club, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, along with the consequences for the team. The Portugal international was killed in a vehicle collision together with his sibling recently.
“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the dressing room without him in it. Putting it into words is tough about it. A devastating blow for his teammates also. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it for poor performances but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Coping with it emotionally is difficult. Overwhelming.”
