Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
